I want to be a new teacher in a new teaching experience again. What? Here I've been saying for the past four years: "This is my final school until retirement at 60. After 13 years here I'll move on with a bunch of cash. But I won't leave because this is the best school I've ever taught at."
Now, as I finish up my Book to pass on to the editors, I have stopped to read a new book. My continuous book research led me to a book called Calculus in the Congo: Adventures While Teaching and Traveling the African Continent by Jashanananda (2016). I cannot put it down. The author started in California and has, so far, made it to the Orientation meetings they had upon arrival in Kinshasha. He and his "partner" have chronicled their first years as overseas teachers.
I hope this feeling goes away again soon. You should read the book. It's well written.
